In 2005, he embarked on a new chapter, joining Olympiacos. This proved to be a turning point as he secured a four-year contract extension in 2008, contributing to Olympiacos' triumphs in the EuroLeague and Greek League championships in 2012.

Despite facing setbacks like a season-ending leg injury in 2012, Vasilopoulos displayed resilience, signing with Valladolid in the Spanish League.

In August 2021, Vasilopoulos bid farewell to his illustrious playing career, having spent three seasons with Peristeri. His impact on the court and leadership qualities were epitomized during his tenure as the team captain.

Transitioning seamlessly into coaching, Vasilopoulos joined Milan Tomic's coaching staff at Peristeri in December 2021. His commitment to the sport remained unwavering, earning him a contract renewal in July 2022 as an assistant to Vassilis Spanoulis

Panagiotis Vasilopoulos proudly represented Greece at various levels, achieving success with the national junior teams, including bronze medals at the 2002 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship and the 2003 FIBA Under-19 World Cup.
