

A Bit About ALEXANDROS GALIS
Alexandros Galis is a Category A basketball coach and holder of a FIBA license. He is a graduate of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science (TEFAA) at Democritus University of Thrace, specializing in basketball, and has also completed studies with the EHCB (EuroLeague Head Coaches Board). Additionally, he studied for one semester in Spain at the University of Extremadura through the Erasmus program.
His coaching career began as an assistant coach for the men’s team, youth team, and academy of Megas Alexandros Thessaloniki, where he later became head coach in the Greek C National League. In the following years, he continued as an assistant coach at Apollon Kalamarias (C National League), with the youth team of Aias Evosmou, and in the A1 Women’s League with Iraklis. He also served for 2.5 years as head coach of the men’s team of DASO.
In 2025, he worked as team manager for the men’s team of Iraklis, which earned promotion to the Basket League. Alongside his coaching career, Alexandros Galis is involved in organizing basketball tournaments for developmental age groups. He is also a volunteer at the YMCA Thessaloniki camps (XANTH), where he primarily serves as the head of sports activities.
